Innovative financing, a topic first raised at the Monterrey Conference in 2002, refers to mechanisms that generate additional resources for official development assistance and offer greater predictability. They have already produced over one and a half billion dollars.
International Forum on Solidarity and Innovative Financing, 16-18 December in Tbilisi, Georgia
Georgia, which joined the Leading group in August 2015, has taken the excellent initiative of organizing an International forum dedicated to solidarity and innovative financing for development from December 16 to 18 in Tbilisi, Georgia. This major event is co-sponsored by the Permanent Secretariat of the Leading Group and the United Nations.

Georgia has become an example to follow in the effective implementation of innovative financing instruments for solidarity and development. Indeed, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili created the Solidarity Fund of Georgia in June 2014. This fund has been operation for one year. It consists in an integrated platform of micro-philanthropy, innovative financing mechanisms and CSR initiatives to support diagnostic and treatment services for children and young people affected by cancer.
