The Permanent Secretariat of the Leading Group has decided to associate with a group of Japanese NGOs, the NGO Forum on International Solidarity Levies, to co-organize a high level side event during the Annual Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank in Tokyo.
The event will take place at 2 pm on October, 11th 2012 at the International Conference Hall of the Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo. All member countries, international organizations, NGOs and Foundations of the Leading Group are welcome to participate.
This event, co-chaired by Finland, as President of the Leading Group, will gather experts on innovative financing mechanisms from various countries at ministerial level as well as from international organizations and the civil society. It will be an opportunity to discuss the existing initiatives of innovative financing and highlight how they can make a positive contribution in addressing the challenges of financing for sustainable development. The context of the IMF/WB Annual Meeting is a great occasion to favour the inclusion of financing for development in the reflection on the perspective of the world economy and how to solve the global crisis.
The concept paper of the event is available here:
A draft programme will be available very soon, detailing the different sequences of the event.
